Phuturehype, organisers of the 2006 Female Rapper/MC Competition proudly announce the release of the debut single ‘Phuture Journey’ featuring this year’s five finalists RdotC, VdoubleE, Lexus, Oracle and Lioness.
Founder Denise Destini said “this year Phuturehype decided that it would be a brilliant idea for the five finalists to record a single with the help of rising female producer CockTailMixer, in order to help promote the competition and themselves. Thanks to everyone involved, we now have this amazing track, showcasing each contestant’s individuality, uniqueness and rawness on the mic”. Everyone worked extremely hard on this project and gave one hundred percent. To say that I am just pleased with the result would be an understatement”.
Finalist, Lexus added “Denise is doing so much to push female talent in this country and I am extremely grateful to her, for giving me and the other finalists the opportunity to shine”.
Phuturehype has also entered in to a distribution partnership with UK based company putitonline.net . putitonline.net is a burgeoning company that allows artists, producers, and songwriters to upload their profiles, music, pictures and videos online. The company is steadily becoming one of the fastest growing musical entertainment networks out there, and will be the place to visit if you wish to download/listen to ‘Phuture Journey’. The impending music video will also make its debut on the website.
The first Female Rapper/MC Competition took place in May 2004 and generated immense media attention. British weekend entertainment show T4 featured the finals in the documentary, Chancers which also featured Fat Man Scoop, Damon Dash, Ashanti, Wyclef, Lloyd Banks and Young Buck. The aim of the documentary was to find six talented artists, fly them over to New York, and see if they were able to succeed in cracking the hardest music market in the world, all under the watchful eye of Fat Man Scoop.
The competition has helped to launch the careers of 2004 runner up Lady Sovereign, who then went on to sign with Universal / Def Jam Records, and 2005 finalist NChyx who is featured in female rapper, Baby Blue's music video 'Sometimes'.
Phuturehype has also been featured in The New Nation (Britain's number 1 black newspaper), Dazed & Confused, The Voice Newspaper, and on the BBC One Music website, WriteOnPoint.co.uk , Rapnews.co.uk, Ragomagazine.com, and 360-x.co.uk.
The Phuturehype 2006 Female Rapper/MC Competition will take place on the 7th October 2006 at the Oh House, Bethnal Green, East London.
